Blackthorne Food / Growing library

Grow three good things.

Practical notes for a beautiful garden that produces: one pot of spearmint, one of rosemary, and one of hot peppers. Start small, observe the plants, and keep a record of what the garden actually costs.

Plant it. Water it. Feed it. Let it produce.

01 / Plant guides

Choose a plant. Learn its rhythm.

02 / Grow and measure

A small batch tells the truth.

Buy or raise healthy starts, then track water, feed, pots, mix, labor, losses, and saleable units. Record the actual price a buyer pays. Local rules for selling plants and fresh food vary, so check them before offering either.

Unit cost = total batch costs ÷ units actually sold
Gross margin = (sale price − unit cost) ÷ sale price × 100

Count culls and unsold inventory in batch costs. This is a planning method, not a yield or income forecast.
